Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safaris
January 25, 2023Best Game Drive Tours In East Africa
January 27, 2023Gorilla safaris have proven to be quite expensive for some people. For that reason, there are often looking out for any window of discounted gorilla trekking permits unfortunately, Uganda wildlife has now taken some good time without offering any discounted gorilla trekking permits even in the low seasons.
With the gorilla trekking permit remaining at the same price, many people cannot think of anything like a discounted gorilla safari. But regardless of the fact that gorilla trekking permits might have remained at the same price, there is an option for discounted gorilla safaris.
There are some months of the year you can still get several discounts on all other service providers involved in the gorilla safari other than Uganda wildlife Authority. Here are a few discount options that might make a huge difference in your gorilla safari expenditure.
Target Discounted Flights
Many people choose to travel during the summer or winter holidays. But if you are interested in cheaper gorilla safaris, always avoid these two seasons. Plan for some time in April or May.
Of course, it might be hard to secure a break during these two months but they are the best time of the year to get discounts on flights to Uganda. There are always fewer people traveling to Uganda during these months. It is relatively easier to secure discounts during these months.
Consider Discounted Accommodation
Accommodation in the months of April and May often goes down by 25% on the side of tour operators. You can be sure to save a minimum of $100 on a 3 days gorilla safari if you choose lodges that offer the best low-season discounts.
It is often recommended to get offers from several tour operators quoting the same itinerary to find out who offers the best offer. Of course, there are other factors to consider on top of the offer but that is for another day.
Plan For Camping Gorilla Safaris
Instead of trying to reduce the number of days for your gorilla safari holiday, it is recommended to consider a camping option. There are often three camping options. Rooftop tent camping, Dome tent camping, and glamping.
The cheapest option is the dome tent camping. The Bwindi impenetrable national park has Safari lodges with good camping sections. You will share other facilities such as the restaurant but still enjoy the gorilla safari camping experience.
Join a scheduled Gorilla Safari
One of the things that make gorilla safaris expensive is the cost of transport. If you are merely a couple. You would have to meet the transportation fees between the two of you. When you join a scheduled gorilla safari, that cost will be distributed among eight people thus making the transportation cost minimal.
The cost of transport is made up of the driver fees, car rental fees, park entrance fees, and fuel fees.
Fly In Through Kigali Rwanda
There are two ways to get to Uganda’s gorilla national parks. You either fly in through Kigali international airport in Rwanda or through Entebbe international airport in Uganda.
When you fly in through Entebbe international airport, you might have to incur extra local flight fees if you are on a tight schedule. It is not so when you fly through Kigali international airport given the fact that it is merely a 4 hours drive from Kigali international airport to Uganda’s gorilla parks.
If you are to travel by car from Entebbe international airport to either Bwindi or Mgahinga gorilla national park, you will have to spend a minimum of eight hours for your transfer. This would not only be tiresome on your side but also attract extra transfer fees which can be avoided by simply flying in through Kigali international airport.
