The cropped sensor on other hand does a great work and helps zoom a lenses depending on the size of the sensor. The 1.6x sensor can even multiply the focal length of your lenses.
- Lenses
When choosing lenses, most people choose long telephoto zooms especially for safaris. Whereas this features the best tool, it may seem much for those of you on gorilla safari. This is because, visitors maintain a distance of about 7 (seven) meters at all times from the gorillas and this can be very close than it is when taking pictures of leopard or lion. Most importantly, you can find a 2 x Canon Idx bodies fitted with canon EOS battery grips a medium telephoto like canon EF 24 to 70 mm f/2.8L together with 70 to 300 mm f/4-5.6L IS USM.

This may sound or appear obvious but it is equally important. Note that mountain gorillas are huge and black and mostly thrive in the jungles. It can be confusing and better if you set your camera to underexpose by 1.5 stops to compensate the overexposure. Better you shoot in RAW in case you are in position as this also comes with some bit of flexibility while processing or allow some bit of correction to exposure and number of other things before the final image.
- Simply sit and watch
