Gorilla trekking is the main tourist activity in Uganda. Uganda is gifted with more than 19 habituated gorilla families ready for trekking. The two gorilla parks in Uganda include:
- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
- Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
The two parks are situated in southwestern Uganda which are reached after 9 hours’ drive from Entebbe Airport by road.

Gorilla Hiking Stick
Gorilla trekking is all year activity and is the serves as the most expensive attraction at US$700 per gorilla permit.
Each gorilla trek begins with a briefing at the park headquarters at around 7:30 am and thereafter, guests are allowed to move in the forest to see mountain gorillas.
Before setting off the forest, every guest is given a free walking stick. For what use?
- The walking stick support guests throughout the trek. It should be noted that the Gorilla trekking trails are slippery and then, it’s wise to move with a walking stick.
- Tool of defense – a stick act as a tool of defense. The forests harbor dangerous game like snakes and so on. In case of an attack, a stick can help you scare some of the wild animals.
- A walking stick can clear the way – beat on the obstacle vegetation and proceed.
- You can sit down on the way to relax but a walking stick can support you when getting up.
- The walking stick can be used to cross over rivers or valleys.
